Winter Travels
In December you might remember we escaped to the natural beauty of the Berkshires to find a bit of solitude and inspiration for our Adult Winter Collection shoot. We received heaps of questions and interest around our location, so we took a dive back in with some insight from Nina Zacek, VP of operations and Unfinished Projects at TOURISTS.
What brought you to TOURISTS? Describe the magic of this place.
I was initially attracted to the natural beauty of this particular part of the Berkshires, and the fact that we have two world-class art museums is almost unbelievable.
Being from Texas, this town reminded me a bit of Marfa which has a special place in my heart. Little did I know, on my first visit here I was being scouted to co-create, open and run this place. The project was quite alluring, aligned with my personal values, and I fell in love with the people involved.
Our goal was to create and develop a memorable experience with a sense of place - doing it with a wildly talented, thoughtful and collaborative bunch was and is thrilling. We're continuing to develop more under the moniker Unfinished Projects (forever evolving, growing and improving...just like us humans, hopefully).
The true magic of TOURISTS is the people — our team creates an environment that gives our guests this great sense of ease; it's beautiful to see how strangers engage with one another so comfortably here.
Tell us more about the very walkable, outdoor art gallery just steps away from the lodge and rooms.
We have three Philip Grausman heads on property, two sound sculptures by Airlift Collective and another piece by artists Steve and Dorota Coy that were a part of MASS MoCA's Assets for Artists Program. We've had other temporary installations come and go in the woods.
