The Secret Collection: A Letter From Anna

On August 27th, 2020 we released a very limited capsule collection of much-loved favorites made up in archival and one of a kind colors.

As you may have guessed, the six months leading up to now have been incredibly challenging for our business. I could not be more proud and grateful for the way our team has navigated these difficult times.

As the pandemic ramped up, our partners in Peru were looking for a way to keep everyone working during the lockdown. We were VERY lucky to have our fall production underway, with yarn in knitters homes and already on their needles, so most everyone could continue working. Unfortunately, there were still some knitters that were in lockdown, had no yarn, and could not work.

We decided to see what we could design with the previous season’s leftover yarn: a little hot red here, 1 kilo of seed confetti, a beautiful earthy grey that came back too dark to be cloud- but all beautiful and surely enough to keep the M&P family in Peru working during the lockdown. 

I sat down (over zoom) with my production manager and we began the task of allocating styles and colors and checking it against our yarn stocks.  

What came out of this effort couldn’t be more special. We brought back some styles that were part of our Emma Crockatt collaboration. Some styles are old customer favorites. And some that are just tried and true. 

This collection represents for me, what it means to run a business like M&P, a commitment to people and places and resources, filled with respect and admiration for our team. 

We decided to keep this collection (mostly) off of our social media channels, and instead sent an email with a password  to our valued customers, everyone who shopped with us during 2020.
