Artist Collab: Georgia Hilmer
This fall, Georgia Hilmer lets us into her world and shows us how she wears the Misha & Puff Fall 22 collection at home in the Catskills.
Georgia Hilmer is a writer and photographer based in upstate New York. Life in the Catskills has allowed Georgia to explore nature more intimately; her obsession with flowers deepened once she had space to plant her own. Georgia lives in an old elementary school that she renovated with her husband Tim, his sister Su, and her husband Gordon. Together they share a garden in the old school yard where they grow vegetables and many of the flowers depicted in Georgia’s photographs. The building includes a gymnasium, where Georgia and Tim host friends for pickleball tournaments.
This year Georgia launched Planterdoos Press, a publishing project exploring the relationship between people and plants. Her first book, FLORA-Z, is a collection of 26 botanical illustrations by 26 different artists that forms a floral alphabet. It is a bouquet in book form. A few of her favorite tears from FLORA-Z are shown below … I for Iris by Helen McCusker and P for Poppy by Marcus Leslie Singleton. Other printed works available through planterdoos.com are the Flower Zine, an accordion-style booklet, and the Poppy Poster. Georgia hopes to release a second edition of FLORA-Z featuring 26 new artists in 2023. She’s already dreaming of the seeds she’ll plant come spring.
